This site is very nice but I'm very worried about becoming a plus member! I have been represented actually but never got a call. I've done a few other site but also found out they were scams after all the money they wanted out of me. (Luckily I didn't pay it) I just do not want to get screwed over. I enjoyed runway in the past and would love to keep doing it or even photoshoot type. It's hard when your from a small city. I'm told a lot that i should get into modeling but i'm just worried about scams! So my question is, will I get anything back in return? I mean even an email back from an agency or a reply. Something?

I ordered comp cards and tried to contact exploreModeling.com through their email address. It's been 6-7 weeks since I've ordered the comp cards and have not yet received them. The payment was taken from my credit card, but I have not recieved the comp cards yet, or an email back from the company. And I have not found a phone number to call them and varify my order or cancel my order. Every time I check my order status online it gives me a new date in which I should receive them. I'm begining to question this whole site on weather it's legit or not! Please let me know something!!

Hi Christina, I thank you very much for responding to my post. I wanted to know if you knew of any way to find out about safe, legitimate promotional modeling agencies/jobs in the South Florida area. I cant seem to find anything about them and when I do I find many reviews saying that the particular one was scamy. One didnt have an address on the website and just wanted me to fill an app but I was afraid since it asked for my SS#.
Also, when you get signed by an agency am I supposed to be constantly calling them or do they call me when something comes up? I just feel a little shy when it comes to having to bother someone and they almost seem bothered when I call.
I thank you in advance Cristina, i am just so eager to land my first modeling job but it isnt turning out so easy so I thought I might start with promotional modelingAny other tips would be very much appreciated!
Thank you again and I hope you have a happy holidays!
Hi Susan,

Have you checked out our free directory? http://www.exploremodeling.com/Member/cristinad/Directory.aspx

The Internet is a great way to check out whether an agency is on the up and up or not. If they are doing something shifty most likely someone has posted something about it... Yeah for the Internet :)
Unless they are a new company, so you still need to be careful.

Basically if an agency wants to represent you it should cost you nothing except 20% of the bookings they secure for you.

Keep in mind though that you will need some photos and a composite card. BUT YOU DO NOT NEED TO GET THESE FROM YOUR AGENCY!!!! You can find a (good) photographer of your choice and within your own budget. Good agencies will recommend you to several but you never pay the money directly to the agency itself for the photo session.

Make sense?

Take a look at our directory. You still need to keep you feelers out. There is always someone looking to take advantage for the extra money :(

Lastly, an agency may charge you to be on their website. This is pretty standard and worthwhile but should not cost you any more than $200.

Good Luck!

Best,

Cristina

Hi Susan,

Thank you for the nice compliments on the site :)

Congrats on landing an agency. If you find after a good 6 months or so you are not getting any work you may want to branch out and find additional agenies.

What is your question?

There is no rush to become a premium member on this site. Just about eveything is free. Have you signed up for our castings?

Best,

Cristina

Hello Christina, I absolutely love your site! Its great and theres so much information and help. I found you on youtube and just signed up yesterday(still getting set up) but I am also so scared of scams. I was wondering if to ask you a question would I need to be a premium member? I signed with an agency 2mths ago but I have only been to 2 castings. I didnt get anything but I think its lack of ANY exp since I just now got into modeling. Since its taking so long and I invested some money I guess I feel a little worried to become a premium member right now since I still havent even gotten my first job.
Either way, just wanted to tell you this site has helped so much that I feel much more confident and informed. Thats alot for a big time newbie like me!
Thank you very much!!

Hi Tomia,

Unfortunately there are never an guarantees... The great thing about ExploreModeling.com is that you do not HAVE to become a plus member to be a part of the castings or use the agency directory. You are free to find the agencies in the directory that you want to contact and e-mail them on your own without using our service. This way you have nothing to loose...

Good luck!

Best,

Cristina
