How Much Money Does a Model Make?
Everyone wants to know how much a model makes. I wish I had a simple answer for you but it is not a simple question.
How much a model makes always depends on how much the advertisement will be seen. Will it be in a national magazine, on a billboard, in the newpapaper, in a brochure or all of the above? Does the client wish to use this image for three months, one year or would they like to buy the image out for an unlimited amount of time? This all determines a model's rate.
If you are a fashion model with a top agency- you can make millions. If you are a commercial print model and work consistently you can make hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. If you have an ongoing contract as the face of a product or company probably more. It all depends on how much you work and how in demand you are. When you are in demand by a lot of clients your agency will raise your daily rate.
Starting out here are some rates you can depend on…
Catalogue Day Rate- $1,500
Commercial Print Booking- $150 per hour plus any usage bonuses’ (this could add hundreds or thousands)
Parts modeling Booking- $150 per hour
Runway Show- To start… around $200 Later… $10,000 per show
National Ad- $5,000 plus
Editorial Job- $150 per day
This will give you a general idea. There are no absolutes when it comes to pricing. All of your rates are negotiated by your agency. There are months where I make $10,000 and have only done a few jobs. Then there are other months where I work 10 jobs and make far less. It just depends…
What you can’t deny though when modeling is how great the schedule is! Many months I only work 10-15 days out of a month and the rest of the time I can pursue other interests. That is the best part!
