Cristina: If you do not want to relocate to a major market like New York, Miami, or California, should you still submit your pictures there? That is a great question. It is really up to you and how far you are willing to travel. If you are not willing to drive 3 hours to New York or take a plane to Florida for casting, then no. It is not really smart. If you want to go to a major modeling market for the summer for a couple of months- then yes. But do only send to those agencies that you are willing to drive to, take a plane to, to get to.
Remember, you will have to be able to cover all of the money to get to the auditions and it can be very costly for people that are starting out. And let me tell you, the competition in those larger markets is very fierce. There are a lot of models that have worked a very long time and that have a lot of experience. So, the best place for someone to start out is in their small local town. Get some experience, do some smaller jobs, kind of relax into it. A lot of new models get nervous because it is hard to jump from just starting out to modeling at a professional level. It can be overwhelming.
